Billy Horschel won the BMW Championship on the strength of his hot putter. Talking about his victory, Horschel said, “I made a lot of putts this week and something I haven’t been doing all year. So it was huge to rely on the putter when it hasn’t shown up as much as I would have liked.” Horschel gained 0.2 strokes per round with his putting during the season, but a remarkable 3.0 strokes per round this week. Chris Kirk won the Deutsche Bank Championship yesterday, overcoming an opening round of 73 with three rounds in the sixties. Kirk told his caddie after his poor first round, “This is no fun, I don’t feel like going to hit balls, I’ll see you tomorrow.
